One thing that has remained consistant about the tuner scene is that it's all about respect. Upon purchasing this 2006 Galaxy Gray Civic LX at Norm Reeves honda on Memorial Day Weekend, Mikey knew that a long road lay ahead of him if he were to gain the respect of his fellow tuners. His slightly smaller 1.8 litre R18 motor produced far less horsepower than it's bigger brother, the K20, and the fact that it was automatic didn't help one bit. However, he wasn't about to let this deter him from having one of the most stylish Civics in Southern California.
Basic bolt-ons are key to making modest gains in power while still maintaining reliability and good gas mileage. Afterall, that's what Civics are known for, right? After carful consideration, Mikey went with Injen's cold air intake system designed specifically for his application. To allow for even better breathing, he handed his car over to Corner 3 Garage, where a Greddy Ti-C exhaust system was installed. To add the finishing touches to the engine compartment and increase air flow, the stock downpipe was removed to make room for the new Megan Racing downpipe.
Now that the car sounded beefier and was able to put more power to the pavement, it was time to make this Civic look and corner better. A spoiler was donated by an Si owner to help give the rear of this car a more complete look, and a front and rear Honda Factory Performance lip kit was added. To help keep the car stable in the sloloms, a swaybar, front and rear struts, and a Megan H brace was installed. As if that wasn't enough to set her apart from other LX's, Hawk brake pads, Tein S-tech springs, and a color-matched grille was added to give it the complete look that it now has.
The crowning achievemet to this car is the retrofit. Customlightz offers several different types of retrofits, varying from light modifications of the stock housings to a complete overhaul. Mikey opted for TSX projectors, MDX shrouds, and blue accented day-time running light bulbs for one of the cleanest looking headlight upgrades possible. With all of the modifications performed on his car, it's easy to see and hear that this is no stock LX rolling down the parking lot of your local Albertson's. This car is Galaxies Apart from it's brothers and sisters and we salute you, Mikey, for your hard work.
